Things You Should Know About Consigning…

What Should I Consign? The Closet Exchange is looking for upscale women’s clothing; name brand / designer, casual wear, formal wear, furs, shoes, jewelry, scarves, belts, hats, gloves and purses. (We cannot accept designer replicas if the designers name is
in them)
All clothes must be:

  • In-Style – Not more than 3 years old with a retail value of $40 to $50 and up.

  • In-Season: Spring/Summer starting February 1st, Lightweight Fall staring August 15th

  • In Excellent Condition – No missing buttons or faulty hardware, free from stains, smoke, excessive wear, pilling, alterations or flaws that effect the saleability.

  • All clothing MUST be brought in CLEAN, PRESSED and ON HANGERS. We will return your hangers to you after going through your items.


We accept clothing Monday through Friday from *10-4 ONLY. (We accept consignment on Saturday by appointment only for those who work). 
Due to insurance liability we cannot except and or go through items brought in BAGS or BINS.
Pet Owners: Please make sure your items are clean of any pet hair.
Smokers: Please make sure your clothing is smoke free.
Yard Sale Tags: Please, remove all yard sale tags prior to bringing clothing in.

It’s All About Presentation! The nicer your items look, (i.e., being cleaned, pressed and on hangers), the nicer your consignment check will look! Please do not be offended if we cannot take all your clothing, due to overstock and customer demand.

What Happens Once I Consign?

We will consign your clothing for 60 days. Clothing
not sold within the 60 days must be picked up by the expiration date given. No exceptions. Costume jewelry is NOT available for pick up, only fine jewelry can be picked up within the 60 day period. Any items remaining after the expiration date becomes the property of The Closet Exchange.

How Do I Get Paid?

You will receive 45% of what the item sells for. Monies are available for pick-up the first of every month. If your balance reaches over $33 at the end of the month, you will have a check mailed to you on the first of the next month. If you would like to inquire about your account or receive a print out of your inventory, please feel free to call or stop by and ask.

We respect and are committed to protecting your privacy at all times. We may collect personal identifiable information when you visit our site. We do not sell or share any of this information with any other persons or businesses.  


All sales are Final. Please take this policy into consideration before making your final purchase.


There is a state tax charge of 7%. We do not charge a handling fee.


All personal information used for purchases is kept secure during the transmission of payment and will not be kept on file in our store.
